Its Day 3 of a New Me

I had a "moment" the other day. I guess it hit me kind of all at once that things will be changing drastically around here in a few months. I don't usually dwell on it too often. I'm a busy stay at home mom with kids and a job, but the other day when I received my first bill from the hospital... well it became a little more real to me in a different way. My life is about to change and it's going to affect my family and all those close to me. But after I picked myself up out of dwelling on the messy part, I realized that though there are things I do not have control over (all the what if's), there are things that I could be doing now to prepare and help this experience be as positive as possible. I need to be proactive. It won't do me any good to avoid thinking about it completely or to sit around worrying about it. What could I do?

I was browsing through instagram one night and stumbled across @jennaskitchen. I was inspired! So I decided to look into the "Whole30" thing and had an "aha!" moment. I'm a dance teacher and very active, BUT I really don't ever bother with caring about what I do or do not eat. I love ALL kinds of food. I'm not a picky eater and love to try new things... healthy or bad. But the thought of trying to purify my body from the inside out as much as possible was not something I'd ever consider spending 30 days doing. Until now that is. I guess I realized that if I want this upcoming surgery to be a success, I should probably start caring about my health in a new way. I'm sure it would help my recovery a whole lot which is so crucial for me. This is my motivation behind doing Whole30. I want to be the best mommy I can be and I want to be around for a long time. I mean, that's the whole reason I'm even having this surgery to begin with! To stay alive and healthy as long as I can. It only  makes sense that I should be doing that on a daily basis... caring about my health and being a little more aware of what I'm eating.

If you don't know me, I'll be undergoing a prophylactic double mastectomy in the beginning of July. This was a very hard decision for me and my family, but at the end of the day, its what the Lord has given us faith for and what we feel is the right decision. I tested BRCA2 positive in October of last year right after my mom found out she was BRCA2 positive. This means genetically, we are at high risk for breast cancer. We also have a history of breast cancer in the family so my mom (who's 50) underwent a prophylactic double mastectomy in November right after losing her dad to cancer. We've gotten a huge reality check recently. You can be young and healthy one minute, and then get cancer out of nowhere and all that health is gone in a heartbeat. Its a long road of recovery, but in the end, I'll be GREATLY reducing my risk of breast cancer! I will no longer be at high risk, but the normal risk of 5% like everyone else. I don't want to burden my family with a big surgery along with the cost and time that will be involved, but thinking about staying at high risk for BC and the potential of my family watching me suffer through that, is obviously the bigger concern. Its an emotional roller coaster, but its been helpful to watch my mom go before me. She's an amazingly strong woman. There's too much to share honestly but that is the general. I'm going to get healthy now. As healthy as possible for my kids, for my husband, and for me, because I only get one body and want to be a good steward of it.

Meet Maygie // Tiny Little Specks

Hey Everyone! I'm back at it again with another great company backed by an amazingly talented and hard working mama!! Maygie and her husband work extremely hard to bring original, playful, simple, and up to date designs to children's clothing. The tees are extremely soft, do not shrink, and are cute as ever!! They have a great variety of colors to offer and are always open to suggestions (I love that)! There's great options for both girls and boys, which is always a plus :) Maygie is so sweet and hardworking. You can tell that Family is her number one priority and that her and her husband have a passion for creating something unique that will stand out when it comes to quality and design! I LOVE the shirts that she sent my boys! Let me give you a little peak at what Tiny Little Specks is capable of and believe me... If you follow them on instagram you'll be the first to see all the new things that are in the works! So good!

Really mom? Don't you have enough photos of me?

that mischevous little smirk!

HIGH FIVE for Tiny Little Specks ;)
I've had such a great time discovering, meeting, interviewing, and befriending some truly genuine, talented, and determined people! It's also been so great to be able to share these people with you all! I think it's so great to be able to support local businesses and small companies! It makes it even more fun to know their stories so you feel like you are supporting a friend. It makes the big world a smaller place :) Now that you've seen a couple of our favs from Tiny Little Specks, lets go ahead and meet the lovely Maygie herself!!

 the beautiful Maygie...

...and her crew :)

Where did the name, "Tiny Little Specks"  come from?
It’s sort of a triple entendre (if that’s possible).  “Specks” are small things.  We don’t usually find a whole lot of what we really like in big box or large retailers.  Smaller boutiques or niche vendors tend to speak to us more than any chain.  So we wanted to be a part of a niche and provide unique, creative designs for people like us.  Also, we only make children’s clothes, so everything we produce is going to be in smaller sizes.  “Specs” are things made on the speculation of them being sold.  We came up with our shirt designs hoping that people would want and enjoy them like we do, though we do respond to feedback and will put out different colors or styles based on that feedback. I suppose it’s a tad bit superfluous to add the “Tiny Little” part, but it helps reiterate the cuteness.

What big goals/dreams do you have for your business?
My dream for my business is to be successful enough to be able to stay at home with my littles EVERYDAY! I absolutely want my husband and I to be the ones molding them into the people they will become and I feel that I can do a better job of that if I’m at home more often. I am missing a lot spreading myself so thin by working so much.

Who or what has inspired you the most?
I would have to say my hubby on this one. He is the hardest working man I have ever met. Being a firefighter he isn't in the most well-paid paid profession; and with 3 small kids and a wife that loves her debit cards, we don't always make it easy on him. With all of that he still makes sure we have everything we need and lots of what we want. Plus he works 2 jobs and is a senior in college. I know, crazy, right??

What have you learned, or whats been some of your biggest take aways, from starting this business?
We live in a society that demands instant gratification and I am no different than anyone else, but with starting a business from nothing I have learned that there is a lot gained by just having PATIENCE. Yes, we all want to be successful overnight but slow and steady wins the race.

If you could have a super power what would it be?
I would want to FLY…all of my friends and family live back home in Texas. If I could fly I would visit way more than I get to now.

quirkiest fact about you...
I get a weird tingle in my nose in crowds and cry uncontrollably. My husband and I call it "chicken nose"...

whats a top priority on your bucket list?
I just want to simply enjoy my children and grandbabies with my husband. I think seeing your own children safe and sound with their family has to be the best feeling in the world.

Thanks so much for sharing a little bit about you and your stellar company, Maygie! For all of you out there who are loving these tees (theres way more goodness on their website as well!), Maygie is super generous and is offering a discount code: thelittleslife that will give you 20% off of your entire order! Just go to to order!!

Meet Makel // Finomenon Kids

There's this really rad kids' clothing company that I fell in love with on the spot! Mostly because the shirts are on point with style, design, comfort, and witty sayings. But it was also because Makel (who's the founder/owner) happens to be a super cool chick and has a very obvious passion and eye for styling little ones. She's super creative... def the artistic type, but also queen of multitasking! no shock there. She works hard during the day to be a mommy and run a business, and then in the evenings she's teaching dance at a studio. She's so down to earth, sweet, and one of those people you just want to hang out with so you can feel cooler than you currently are. So, basically all that just makes the great clothes even better :) If you haven't checked out her website yet, you most definitely should (more info below)! I'm going to show you some great items that we have of hers, but trust me when I say there is so much more great items on her site than I have to show you! Lets start with our newest fav!

"make them girls go loco"

party's here!

"royal highness" tees | the perfect staple

cozy triangle fleece pullover

Clearly we love her stuff :) Right now her shop is closed until Friday the 28th. BUT there will be some really great items in her shop that are going to go FAST! So mark your calendars for Friday!! Also make sure that you are following her on Instagram (@finomenonkids) so you are the first to know about sales and giveaways from her! And if you are following me as well (@thelittleslife) there may be a special little treat waiting for you on friday! Anyways, let me introduce you to Makel and her adorable little crew!!

Is there meaning behind the name, Finomenon Kids?
My son's name is Finley and we call him Fin. I knew I wanted to include him in my business name because Finomeon was initially inspired by him.

How did Finomenon Kids come about?
When I was pregnant with Fin, cool boy clothes were hard to come by. Once Fin was born and I started nursing, I'd fill up that time browsing Instagram. I found all these inspirational mommas who started making/selling handmade items so they could work at home at be with their kids. I knew once we moved far away from home for dental school I'd have to leave my job of teaching dance behind. I had always wanted my own clothing label but I always thought I'd be selling dance apparel. Little did I know, your passions change after having children and my new passion is my family. So mix family with fashion and you have: baby clothes :)

What's your biggest goal this year?
My biggest goal for this year is really just to get my name/brand out there. I want to be able to stock my shop with something for everybody! I have all these great ideas up my sleeve but I'm still just trying to build it up so that when I am done teaching, Finomenon can sustain our little family through four years of dental school.

If you could have any super power what would it be?
If I could have any super power it would definitely be to freeze time. I'm a pretty busy momma with Finomenon and teaching dance right now. I'd love to freeze time so I can do things like take my family to the zoo, go to the museum, and a little sleep would be nice too ;)

How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style I would describe as comfy with a little edge. Street chic is a good word... yeah I like that. Most days you find me in leggings, baggy tees, plaid, and converse. I LOVE shopping in the mens section. However, I equally love skirts and dresses and they are usually black.

What's a typical day in the life of Makel?
Typical day in my life starts early with my tiny early bird. If I don't jump out of bed Fin helps himself to cheerios in the pantry and brings them to my bedside. Ha mind he's only 16 months, independent child of mine. So I get up make breakfast and Fin and I watch cartoons (some favorites: Mickey Mouse, Jake and Neverland Pirates, Turtles Tale and Brother Bear, Mom prefers Grey's Anatomy, Vampire Diaries, and Prison Break). Then I try to do some housework, blah. When Fin goes down for his nap I whip out my orders and try to catch up on emails. Days when dad is home we exercise in the living room. Dad's a major health guru, runs marathons and stuff, I couldn't run 5 miles if I tried. After lunch I pack up Fin to go to grandmas while I go to teach dance. I teach Mon-Thursday 4-9 pm. Teaching dance is the best but so so exhausting. Yes, my life sounds pretty boring, when we move to vegas I hope to use that teaching time for laying by the pool. Doesn't that sound nice? ;)

What's something most people wouldn't guess about you?
People don't guess that I actually never stop talking. I'm very shy and reserved when meeting new people and I HATE any attention on myself. Weird because I grew up dancing on stage haha but the stage never bothered me. Mainly just speaking in public that I'm just awful at and almost always make a fool of myself. But I actually love meeting new friends once I get past my awkwardness.
Also something most people don't know about me is that I was adopted. I have so blessed with the life I was given and I hope to adopt one day because I'm a huge supporter of the wonderful things that come from adoption.

Thanks so much for sharing Makel! Love the Finomenon was named after your son! Freezing time would be great! Also laying by the pool sounds fabulous haha. Seriously wish you all the blessings as you and your family go through growing, changing, and new adventures!! I know you will do great! For everyone that has marked their calendars to visit her website...!! cannot wait for you to see all that Makel has put her heart and soul into!!

Meet Laura & Summer // Salt & Pepper

I came accross Laura and Summer's instagram a couple weeks ago and died at all the perfect looking tees they had going on! I'm always always on the hunt for a great tee that you can dress up or down and feel comfortable in! I have a couple at home that I wear on the regular, but I'll admit, I'm a picky girl! It has to be soft... very soft! Affordable is also an adjective I'd like to throw in there. It has to NOT shrink for goodness sake and it absolutely MUST be not too tight and not too baggy :) I loved all the sayings on the shirts and knew that if I put it on and it fit the bill, I'd be hooked. Well don't you know... their tees are EVERYTHING!! I ended up trying a medium which fit great! I could have gone with a small, but honestly the baggier feel kinda grew on me and I can't stop wearing it!!! Its incredibly soft, affordable, the v-neck is perfection, and it doesnt shrink to fit my 8yr old daughter! I also love the basic charcoal grey color. It pretty much goes perfect with anything!

little man got his feelings hurt because he wanted to be in the picture with mommy

I like to make him happy :) and he's cute so why not!
here's just a taste of the other great tees
Honestly I don't think there's one thing I could point out that would have made it better than it is. I will be needing more of the others in my closet now that I know how perfect these are. There's just one other thing I have to mention! The ladies that started this whole thing...well lets just say they are just as rad as the tee I'm raving about! If you want to feel like you are ordering clothes from a friend you should go right ahead and jump on this opportunity :) I'm actually being very serious. Laura and Summer are so sweet, answered many of my questions, and shipped me this tee in a heart beat! Clearly they have customer service down! It's been so fun getting to know them better and to see first hand how talented these ladies really are! Their vision for the company is making me so excited to see what else they come up with! I'm gonna stop blabbing now and let  you see for yourself! Meet Laura and Summer!!!

Laura & Summer

How did Salt & Pepper tees come about?
Laura:  I kept seeing a lot of graphic tees out there, but I didn’t love them.  I knew that I could take that concept and put my own creative spin on it.  I already had some connections to make it happen pretty easily, like a screen printer, photographer and web designer.  I knew I needed to team up with someone who had a really good eye for fashion.  Summer was a perfect fit to bring it all together.  We came up with designs, searched for the best fitting tees, and Salt & Pepper was born!
What would you say has been your biggest inspiration along the way?
Our biggest inspirations come from what we are seeing now in the fashion world, and doing our best to keep things fresh and current.  We are also very inspired by our surroundings here in Southern California.  We want our tees to be fun, casual, but also stylish.
What are some of your biggest goals moving forward?
We have wanted to continually stay true to our concept from the beginning.  Simple designs, simple colors, that can be paired with anything and everything.  Our plan is to release new tees every season. And the possibility of either a kids line or a mens line has been talked about.
How would you describe your personal style?
Laura:  My favorite outfit has always been jeans and a white or black tshirt.  Then of course styling it up with great shoes and accessories!  I also love layering with a leather jacket or fun kimono. So, my style summed up is great basics with a bit of edge.
Summer: I love anything from a comfy pair of sweats to a fun lace dress. My mom uniform is usually a great fitting tee with jeans, or harem pants and a flannel or denim shirt tied around my waist. I never spend a lot of money on my clothes but will splurge on shoes. Foot comfort is everything!
Whats something that you've learned from starting your own business?
We are both moms that have always worked one way or another.  We have both independantly freelanced and worked with small businesses.  So in a way, we already knew the basics of starting a company.  But, of course there’s always more to learn!  With Salt & Pepper, we’ve learned so much about t-shirt manufacturing and screen printing.  Its amazing how much work actually goes into making such a simple product!

If you could have any super power what would it be?
Laura: That’s a tough one!  I think time travel would be really amazing. To go back to certain times in history would be the coolest!
Summer: hmmm- I would have to agree with Laura. There are some really fun childhood memories that are so blurry and vague. I would love to be a kid again and see the world that way.
Whats something that is top priority on your bucket list?
Laura: Learn to sail!
Summer:  Learn to cook! I’m horrible!

hmm a possible mens and kids line? Count me in as your first customer ladies!! So excited for what's to come and glad you took time out of your busy lives to let us get to know you both a little better! You MUST visit their website and buy a tee so you can be completely addicted like me. You'll see what I mean :) their website is and these ladies decided to be really generous and offer a discount code: LITTLES15 to receive 15% off your purchase from now through the end of March! They have a free shipping code set up on their website too if you spend over $50 and they said you can use it in addition to the code I just gave you!! What's stopping you now? :)

Meet Kim // Kids Harem Pants

I'm excited to share this feature with you guys, number one because my boys live in their harem pants from Kim, and number 2 because Kim is really awesome :) The pairs that we have are both ridiculously soft (think: your fav pair of sweatpants) and at the same time, have held up through some serious wear and tear people! If you haven't noticed yet, (and trust me you will) my boys can't even keep a nice pair of jeans hole free for very long! They are some great quality testers I will tell you that! So, I'll be the first to tell you that these pants are a dream! Oh, and they look cute with pretty much any top I decide to throw on them! Another perk... The PRICE!! I'm not kidding, all Kim's harem pants are so affordable that you'll surely be doing a double take at the price! There's a TON more creative and rad harem pants on the website, but let me show you the ones we have!

clearly we like to have dance parties

"hey mom look! We have pockets."

peace ;)

So yeah, the boys stay trendy and cozy at the same time! I LOVE that they both have pockets, the faux leather knee patches on Ky's are AH mazing, and the zippers on Ryder's...soo good! Kylan's pair even has this furry fleece layer inside which has me completely jealous!! Everyone has asked me where we got them! This is my favorite thing about all these mom's starting their own businesses! We all get to benefit right? Because where in the world would you be able to find these cute pants for kids? They just don't exist at the usual stores, so I'm grateful for people like Kim who fill the gap! Now our boys can be stylish and not at a high cost :) Speaking of Kim, I did a little interview with her (below). You should probably check it out :)

Kim and her cutie patootie!

Kim's adorable fam bam!

How did Kids Harem Pants come about?
I've been pretty obsessed with Japanese fashion for kids for a while now, and just finally found a little extra time to make it happen!

What would you say is one of your biggest goals for this year?
Just to keep focusing on the positive in every aspect of my life. I feel that if you're positive you create happiness all around you!

What are some things that you've learned from growing your own business?
Well number one, what a huge blessing it is to be able to work from home! Number two, how appreciative I am that there are so many patient people willing to wait for their back ordered items to ship....patience is not my strong suit when it comes to getting my product in ;)  And finally, how awesome other small business's are for their support in other small business owners like myself!

Whats a typical day in the life of Kim?
I start every day at around 5am, by choice, while the kids are still sleeping, I say my prayers, read my scriptures, have my Bode drink, then do yoga, which I've really found a love for! It's funny, I used to be such a night owl and I'd sleep in until the kids woke up, so my close friends were shocked to find out my new early bird routine! I love it though, I wouldn't have it any other way! Then, the 2 older kids get up around 6:30 and it's getting them off to school time. The 2 younger kids wake up around 7:30 and we usually hangout for a little while, then do the gym and run errands. I do my shipping for a couple hours on most days, but I do reserve one day out of the week to have a fun shopping day with my sister, which always ends with lunch at Nordstrom cafe!! We really try to have family dinner each evening then just hangout until bedtime. That's pretty much my day/week in a nutshell :)

What is something super quirky about you?
Hmmmm something quirky about me....I LOVE my 2 days a week Zumba class! I feel like I'm 21 and at a dance club ;)

Who/what has inspired you the most along your journey?
Probably my husband and kids. To be able to take them on family trips and provide a good life for them is what keeps me motivated to keep growing in my businesses.

If you could have any super power what would it be?
I really had to think about this one and I finally figured it out....I'd have the ability to time travel, to the past and future...just like having the pay phone on Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

**RUN don't walk to her website {} to order your littles a pair! They are already super affordable and Kim is going the extra mile and offering 10% off using the code "littleslife10"!! You have until April 5th to get on that while she is stocked up! Also, don't let the name fool you! She has more than harem pants to offer in her shop! Thanks Kim for sharing a little bit of who you are with us and for your generosity!! We are supporters for life over here!! xx

Meet Jenny // Taylor Joelle Designs

Taylor Joelle Designs is one of my new favs because there's bigger kid sizes in addition to toddler sizes, so I can get super cute stuff for my 8 year old daughter!! Not only that, but she has cute/simple pocket tees for boys as well. Basically I can shop here for all three of my kids which makes me happy! I fell in love with with this tunic and when I saw it in person I was clapping!! Its just as good (if not better) in person! The collar and the bottom of the shirt are white lace, and next to that perfect mint stretchy soft goodness is perfection! The quality is wonderful so I knew I'd found a gem!!

knotted turban headband c/o bugzy love
gold peter pan collar necklace c/o giddy up and grow

its perfect with leggings as the length goes right past her bum!

Oh and have I mention her obsession with The Secret Garden? :)

Nyah has gotten so many compliments on her top and its so easy to dress up or down! You seriously need to check out her website and instagram!! She's always announcing sales (IG name: @taylorjoelledesigns) and the amount of cuteness on her website {} is hard to resist!! Also, this exact tunic is the "hot buy" on her website right now!!! that means this perfect piece that used to be $45 is now $12!! And Jenny is so sweet that she's offering a discount code on everything else in the shop (the tunic is the only exclusion)! All you need to do is use the code "littles" at check out to receive 20% off your purchase!! Act fast though because the offer ends at midnight TOMORROW!!

Now that we know how sweet and talented Jenny is, lets check out the interview I did with her to get to know her a little better shall we?

Jenny and her tiniest little :)
How did Taylor Joelle Designs come about?
I had been teaching at a local high school and stopped after Taylor (my first born) came.  I really wanted to be able to do some work from home.  We actually started just selling junk on ebay haha.  I would go to yard sales etc... or shop the crazy discounts at gap and resell the clothes.  This got tiring and I really wanted to sell something I was passionate about, and with a baby at home I was kind of addicted to baby clothes so when my 3rd child, Mason, came along I designed a crib bedding set.  We sold those sets on ebay, and eventually started our own site.  The 200 crib sets we ordered took up tons of room (our personal space was nonexistent hahah), so we stopped doing those and moved to smaller baby items :)

Is there meaning behind the name? If so do share :)
Taylor Joelle is named after my sweet daughter.  She absolutely loves fashion and loves designing, so I am fairly positive this business will be hers someday!

What are some things that you've learned from growing your own business?
I have learned that you have to take risks.  It's scary but it can also turn out wonderful.  I am so glad that my husband and I took this step.  It has been such a blessing for our family, and the kids love having their daddy working from home (he's my partner in crime).  I have also learned how important it is to hire out your weaknesses.  If I tried to do everything in this business, it wouldn't be successful.  I like focusing my energy on the parts I am good at.

Whats a typical day in the life of Jenny?
Jenny's life feels like a circus right now.  I just had my 5th baby, and between the business, keeping the house clean, my job as my kids chauffeur, I don't have much free time. I do however always make time for running, and watching my favorite shows (parenthood, the middle, and yes I hate to admit it but I am a sucker for a few abc family cheesy dramas).

What is something super quirky about you?
I am Canadian - can that be considered quirky?  I grew up in Ontario and moved here for college.  I am also a huge fan of Disney original movies.  I told my husband that I bought "camp rock" for Taylor, but I think Taylor could care less - it's got a great soundtrack!

Who/what has inspired you the most along your journey?
My husband is always super supportive.  He helps me take those risks, and he is never upset when some of those risks I take don't work out.  My mom is another huge huge inspiration.  She does a lot of the designing with me.  It is so much fun to work with her (plus she's free!)

If you could have any super power what would it be?
The super power to create more time in the day. I  would love more time to sit, read stories, and cuddle with my kids.  I would also love to be able to take a 2 hour nap each day, and relax with my husband each night watching movies.  Things are very very busy right now, but it's a lot of fun!

Is there anything Jenny can't do? Baby number 5 and running a business! I love husband and wife teams :) Always cool to see when the guys are supportive and encouraging! Even better to have the help of your mom in addition to that!! That's awesome! I can totally relate on being a full time chauffeur lol! I joke all the time that I feel like I spend over half the day in the car! Thanks so much for sharing with us Jenny!! Its was fun getting to know you! I'm so so looking forward to all the things you'll be designing in the future!

Meet Robyn // Giddy Up And Grow

I met Robyn a few months ago when I found myself drooling over the ridiculous amount creative, unique, and playful hair accessories she makes. I don't know how she manages to continuously bust out these creative, whimsical designs but I'm not the only one that's been blown away. Celebs like Jessica Alba have even snagged up some of her goodies! Really its no shocker at all if you saw her stuff in person. Actually, let me show you!!

she loves her little friendship bracelet!

of course the headband is upside down! but this black and white stripes/princess combo is perfection!

this crown headband is so cute and playful...and sparkly :)

its like playing dress up all the time :)

this minty studded bow is basically perfection

"from this slumber she shall wake where true love's kiss the spell shall break"

ok so look carefully and you will see the clear grippy part that we love so much!

What I love about Robyn is the attention she pays to detail when she's crafting these beauties! I'm talking all the way down to the little clear grips inside the clip so that even those fine haired beauties can rock them all day long!! I can't tell you how long I looked for something like this when my daughter was born (with TONS of hair)! Everything she makes is of the highest quality and stems from a child's imagination. And just so you know, Robyn is also the easiest to talk to, determined, hard working, classy, and sweet as pie. She's good at what she does and its so so obvious!

Now without further delay... let's meet the lovely Robyn!!

How did Giddy Up and Grow come about?
Before I had kids, I was a jewelry designer. I made my own designs, sold them online and in retail shops, and had a great little business going. But once I had kids, I found it hard to find the time to sit down and work on my jewelry as it was very time consuming. So I took a break to just focus on my kids, and enjoy the little moments.
When my daughter was born, she had a full head of gorgeous hair. I started making hair accessories for her to wear as young as 4 weeks old. When we would go out in public, I would get asked where I bought her accessories. I decided maybe it was time again to start putting my creative juices to work.
I opened my Etsy shop 4 years ago, and almost immediately my items started to sell. It took a lot of trial and error to find the right business model that worked for me both personally and professionally. But I think I have it down to a science now, but I always leave room for learning and growing my business.

Is there meaning behind the name? If so do share :)
No meaning, I just thought the name was cute and reflected childhood!

What are some things that you've learned from growing your own business?
I have learned that just because something is working right now, in a month or two it might not. Trends are forever changing in the fashion and accessory business, so I need to be ahead of the game. I do a lot of styling work with magazines, and they require items 3-6 months in advance of a particular season. Having a Halloween collection designed and ready for sale in July/August is not unusual for me.

Whats a typical day in the life of Robyn?
I wake up at 5:15am, grab a coffee and get straight to work. I answer emails and work on other business admin until I get my kids up at 7:00 to get ready for school. I then get my oldest to the bus stop by 7:30am, and then get my daughter ready for preschool. My daughter attends preschool for a couple hours 3 times a week, so that is when I do my running around, dropping packages off at the post office etc. Then the rest of the day is spent doing activities with the kids and making orders. Not only do I run a business, but I also have a full-time job as a mom and wife. When my husband gets home from work around 5:00pm, we have dinner and then it's back to work. I work on making orders until 8:00pm when I get my kids ready for bed. After the kids are asleep, I try to spend some time with my husband. It's exhausting, but I enjoy it.

What is something super quirky about you?
I love Harry Potter.... Like all things Harry Potter!!!

Who/what has inspired you the most along your journey?
I have always had a love of design, marketing and becoming an entrepreneur some day. Before I had kids, I worked in advertising for Venture Communications, alongside the owner Arlene Dickinson (female judge on Dragon's Den). Working for a female boss inspired me to go for what I want.

If you could have any super power what would it be?
Time travel. Then I could zip to Mexico for a quick break, and be back before anyone would notice I was gone!
